"Not Good, But Fun When You First Get It..." 2009-11-19

I'm Lilly M. To clear things up, I've rated this low due to some bad comments. Sorry to all the people who think the My Meeba is 'cool'. I was actually suprised as I scrolled down the review page a few days ago, discovering horrible comments on these cute toys. Bascially, if I had to say what people dislike the most is the limited play and not being able to choose the 'Meeba' that comes out of your tube. I personally don't care, but of course, that's my opinion.

Me and my sister were very close to putting these on our Christmas wishlists. Instead, we got the My Meeba Fashion Dolls, which are larger versions of the plushes that have already come out of the tube. They come with cute outfits, and you can see the Meeba you get, but they only have a small amount of dolls, so they only have a small amount of Meeba Fashion Dolls. But they are good for all those 'dislikers', as I call them.

All those people who read this review and are thinking about buying this, take a secound thought. My Meeba Tubes are not bad, and some work good, some don't. It's best you find a seller whom is welling to let you return the product if it doesn't work. The My Meebas are not the best toys, and they never will be. Mattel made a big mistake by making these. They could have worked harder, checked their work and improved highly.

Making a toy is like doing a hard worksheet. You need to study for it, then work hard on it, check your work, and improve. If I had to give My Meebas a grade, I'd give it a C+. As I said before, these toys are not bad and great for younger child if they work well. Now, for the toys you get from the tubes.

As another customer mentioned, they are barely worthy of being a Happy Meal toy. They are cute, sometimes fluffy, but in many cases, you will not get the toy you want. If you want only the plush, get the Fashion Doll version. As I explained before, they are bigger, better made and you do not have to work with a complicated toy to get them.

This is not a bad comment. Nor is this a good one. It is a warning for buyers-to-be. If your daughter/son adores this toy and saw this on commercial, take a second thought. I don't know how Mattel got the My Meeba toy to look so perfect on the commercial.

Thanks for listening.

 "Hours of fun" 2009-05-06

My daughter loved playing with this thing. She would play with it all day and night, until it finally opened. Now it is pretty much worthless... but the journey was the best part I guess.

 "More than a toy" 2009-04-30

I gave the Purple-Intelligence toy to my granddaughter for Easter. She likes to play the game. The only thing she did not like was that you had to win so many games before the animal would pop up. Other than that she was please with the toy.

"BEWARE!! You cannot choose the plush!" 2009-04-14
By WolfMother (Newton, NJ United States)
My son wanted the 'meeba' pictured in this ad; I thought I was buying it. It reads that I'm buying 'Intelligence' which i thought was the name of the meeba. Turns out it's a whole line of meebas, so you can buy 20 of them and run the chance of each being the same!!! Rather than incentivizing me to buy more, it upset my son to tears and we will buy no more meebas ever again. I would have considered collecting some, but not if you have no say on what's inside. Mattel made a big boo-boo, in my opinion. They could have sold more, but my guess is others will have this same experience with their children. If you buy it, warn your little one ahead of time!!

 "My Meebas personal review" 2009-04-06

Pros: -Cute! The fun bright colors and wacky shapes of each Meeba make you want to collect all of them!

- Simple to operate. This toy has no written words (other then the instruction sheet and even then I was able to figure it out within a few minutes) so is good for children of all languages and I'd say as young as 3 (but I'm not an expert on toys)

- Fun! The packaging states there are over 20 different games to play gaining (a) new one(s) after each evolution.

-Great for collectors because there is an almost endless verity of Meebas to get, as each one is different and from what I can tell, it looks like no two are the same.

Cons: -Quick to play. I've only had mine for just over a day and I'm already at evolution 5 out of 7. I'm a collage student and work part time, so I can go through it pretty quickly. But I think as a child plays with it for a limited amount of time with school, home work, friends, family time, chores, etc. they may take less time to go through it.

-I seem to only get one new game per evolution. I'm not sure if this is with all of them, but so far out of the 20+ games, I have only been offered 8 and probably will only get a total of 10 once all of the evolutions are finished. I think by 20+ games they mean there are 20+ games that you could play and each Meeba game gets some of them.

-I personally like the portability of digital pets such as Tamogachi's and GigaPets. This one is permanently attached to the tube and is too bulky to carry in my opinion, or at least for a collage student to be seen on campus with.

-The volume is loud and I have not been able to find a way to turn it down or off. I think that would make it nicer to play, because I play away from people so they don't have to hear the sounds it makes over and over while I play the games.

-I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the tube after it opens, they say you can store your Meeba in it but I think I'll hang it in my car. I wish you could remove the digital pet from the tube but it will probably sit on a shelf somewhere. If I get more tubes, I'm not sure what I'll do with all of them, I guess recycle if the plastic is ok for that.

-I managed to get mine on sale for around $15 but I think the retail price is around $20 which is a bit too much I think for something as simple as this.

-There is a limited replay on the toy. I haven't opened mine yet but others say it's not worth playing again, I haven't personally dealt with that yet, but we'll see.

Other Thoughts: I really like the idea of this digital pet and I think smaller, more quite versions should be available.

Bottomline: This is a cute little digital pet to get for a small child or someone who hasn't grown up just yet like myself. But due to that lack of portability I don't recommend it for teens and young adults unless your ok with checking on it now and then.
